One Blogging Lesson I Learned While Dining Out
My mom and I wanted to go out to get some dinner and decided on where we were going to go. Unfortunately, when we got to the main artery, there had been an accident near the major intersection further up the road.
Luckily, we were going in the other direction. The problem was, the place we wanted to visit came up on us too fast. We couldn’t get over to the left turn lane fast enough to make the turn into the parking lot.
Now, due to the accident, the traffic was backed up. If we had turned around, we would’ve been stuck in it for who knows how long.
I decided to pull into a parking lot and do a search for another restaurant in the direction we were already going to avoid the traffic. We decided on a place we had driven by a few times.
Turns out, it was the right decision.
The prices were decent, the staff was very friendly and the food was great. We even told the server that we’d be back, and we did go back, a week later.
The Blogging Lesson Is To Provide Solutions For Your Readers
Restaurants make money buy providing a solution to hungry consumers. Food and a place to eat it.
People need to eat and, if they don’t feel like cooking, they will go out to eat. If they are new to the area, like my mom and myself, they will search for a local place to go. If they like the place, they will return, as did we.
We found a new favorite in this restaurant because we liked everything about it, food, service, etc.
Running a blog is the same way. Your primary reason should not be to make money. It should be to provide solutions to your readers’ needs, no matter what the niche is. If you do that, the money will follow.
Blogs are a way for people to get information to help them. If they are able to consistently get the answers to their questions from yours, they will come back.
We all have questions that need answers. We use search engines to find websites (blogs) that will give us those answers. If those answers help us, we will come back when we have other related questions and look for more answers.
Your goal should be to put yourself and your blog in the position of being the source of choice for information related to your niche.
I’m sure you have your favorite restaurants, stores or websites you enjoy visiting. Why do you go to them?
Is is because of the service?
The overall value of what they have to offer?
Run your blog the same way. Be consistent with what you are offering in the way of information to help your readers.
Do that and you will give them a reason to keep coming back, to join your email lists, to buy your products and pay for your services.
