Internet Marketing Versus Having a High I.Q.

Internet Marketing Versus Having a High I.Q.

Hi my friends.  I’ve been thinking about how big of a deal having a high IQ really is in the big picture. Just for laughs, I took an I.Q. test a while back to see what mine was. The test was only 20 questions, so who knows how accurate it really is. I scored 146 which, according to the charts, puts me at a highly superior or genius level. Now, that’s fine and all, but what does it have to do with internet marketing?

As far as I’m concerned, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

In the long run, it’s not how smart you are that matters. It’s what you are able to do with the knowledge you have or gain through life situations, training, etc.

I believe that anyone with average intelligence and a willingness to learn, can and will succeed by TAKING ACTION based on that knowledge. Do you agree? Let me know in the comments below.

The cab driver’s story

When I drove a cab, there was another guy who worked for the same company as myself.  He claimed to have a high I.Q. Sorry, I can’t remember exactly what it was, but it was higher than mine, according to him. He would read all kinds of stuff, but, he wasn’t doing anything with all this knowledge he was gaining, thus the reason he was driving a cab. He’d drive all night, go home, get stoned and play video games. We tended to think of him as an intellectual, someone who reads a lot but nothing that’s of any use to help better himself emotionally, financially or physically. Real intelligent. What do you think? Comment below.

My story

Now, in my case, I have gained plenty of knowledge over the years. I could’ve probably been a millionaire by now, if I had acted upon it years ago. But, I was afraid to take the chance. There, I said it. I eventually did start taking chances and, yes, I’ve failed many times. The thing is, in my case, I had some knowledge, but not all the knowledge. I knew the basics of making a web page, getting a domain name and hosting. What I didn’t have was the knowledge about sales funnels, landing pages or squeeze pages, or how to get visitors to my sites, etc. I did, however, have the drive to learn what I needed and paid for courses and mentoring to help get me on the right foot, in the internet marketing niche.

It wouldn’t have mattered whether my I.Q. was as high as they say, or lower. It’s the wanting to learn what’s needed and the implementation of that knowledge that counts.

It doesn’t take a high I.Q. to see that if you want to learn and take action, you will succeed. Agreed?

What do you want your story to say?

I’d like your story to say that you figured out what you wanted to, gained the necessary knowledge, and acted on it.

My promise to you

I can almost guarantee that if you do indeed start generating income with internet marketing, your family and friends will consider you a genius. We’ll know the truth, that you did what you needed to do, and success followed. So, get out there and do it, to live your dream life. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Final thoughts

Some people love to brag about how intelligent they are based on a number. I think the real geniuses in society are the ones who provide a solution to a problem.

Here are some examples:

The corner store owner who provides goods for neighborhood.

The local gas station owner who helps by providing fuel for others to get to where they need to go.

The kids in the neighborhood who start a snow shoveling business to help those who can’t.

And many others.

We can do the same online, provide a solution to a problem, and all from a laptop.

Become a problem solver and join the legions of true geniuses who have and will continue to shape our world.

Until the next time, have a good one……..Chris

  2. Hi Chris,

    Fab points all around.

I am a dingbat. Typing these words from Thailand. Success, happiness and love have EVERYTHING to do with our energy and nothing to do with intelligence.

I recall my security guard days. I met a truck driver who graduated from MIT. Brilliant guy. Nothing wrong with being a trucker. But the guy was miserable. His energy – chosen vibe, that is – manifested those unhappy circumstances. On the flip side, I have met happy, prospering folks who dropped out of freaking high school. Let alone college. And seriously, I am a little clever here and there but of average intelligence…..self-deprecating…..humble…..loving……..and those qualities are the exact energies that helped me live my dreams, so I could inspire other folks to live their dreams.

    Thanks for sharing Chris 🙂

    1. Hi Ryan.

      Welcome back.

Dingbat? I don’t think so. You did what you had to do to get to where you are. You found the right mindset, let go of the fear and became one with the universe, as you say it. Most of all, you are just being yourself. You take action and have fun doing it. Those who relate with your stories get that. Those that don’t, meh!!

Me, I’ve gained knowledge in many different things that could’ve had me making money both online and offline years ago, but a combination of fear of leaving my comfort zone and laziness kept holding me back. Well, the times are a-changing and I am too. My mindset is changing and just by what has happened recently with being mentioned on your Huffington Post

  3. This is sooo true. Providing value to others is way more valuable than all the smarts in the world. Good article!

    1. Hi Dan.

Welcome and thanks for stopping by my little spot on the web.

All it takes is the willingness to learn and use that knowledge and anyone can succeed in anything they want to do.
Anything that helps others is of great value and should be available to all. Those of us who do this, will always be the ones who are the true “geniuses” in my book.

  4. Hi Chris,

    Well, this was fun 🙂

I.Q. and intelligence… nothing to do with success, happiness or ability to make a valuable contribution to fellow humanity like your store owner, gas station guy and snow shovelers.

It’s all about an out of IQ and 100 pounds of implementation.

I’ve taken advantage of my knowledge sometimes, but fell off the cliff at other times.

    No matter.

The past is past, and that’s where it belongs.

We start again right now… today.

    1. Hi Donna.

      Welcome back.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Look for the problem, provide a solution and repeat.

Doesn’t take a genius to see how simple it can be.

You’re right. The past is the past and the future is now.

      Let’s make it happen.

  5. Hi Chris, I totally believe IQ and even classroom education has nothing to do with success. It’s more about motivation, determination and work ethnic. I’m currently reading a book about losing our fears. Our fears can hold us back from success from than anything else. You made some really great points here Chris especially “Some people love to brag about how intelligent they are based on a number. I think the real geniuses in society are the ones who provide a solution to a problem.”
    Have a wonderful day Chris.

    1. Hi Lisa.

Welcome and thanks for visiting my blog.

Having a passion for something, and the wanting to do it out of fun will always create success. We don’t need to be super smart to have passion or fun.

A lot of times, fear to try something different, especially in business, is caused by over-thinking and not enough doing. So-called geniuses think about everything and don’t just let things flow naturally. Where’s the fun in that?

I’m glad you liked the post.

      Thanks for commenting.

  6. Hey Chris

I remember a few years back after I left school I bumped into a girl who used to be top of the class in everything. She was literally a straight ‘A’ student, (I on the other hand was a straight ‘F’ student). She had got all A+ results in her exams, stayed on at school, eventually went to university and done a degree.

Where did I bump into her? The local chip shop where she was working. She had been trying to get a ‘proper job’ as she called it but there just weren’t any around.

After all that studying and getting into all that debt she couldn’t get better than minimum wage.

I’m not saying all education is a waste of time, my point is you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to become successful. In fact some of the most successful people of our time left school with absolutely no qualifications whatsoever yet have gone on to make hundreds of millions of dollars.

What you need is drive, determination and a ridiculous work ethic. You can learn anything you put your mind to, if you want it bad enough and work hard enough you’ll get it, I truly believe that.

I would much rather have a little bit of knowledge and take massive imperfect action, than know everything there is to know but never actually DO anything.

‘an ounce of action is worth a ton of theory’

    1. Hi Dan.

I agree that you don’t need all these college degrees to become successful. It’s one thing if you want to be a doctor, or really specialized in a field that will never go away, but most people can get by without it.

If we are able to see some problem that needs to be solved and have the solution, we will succeed. It’s as simple as that. Like in my examples above, anybody can do it, if they know where to look.

With so many people trying to make money online, we are in a great position, as bloggers, to be able to help them, whether it’s affiliate marketing, ecommerce, building websites, etc. Like you said, drive, determination and taking action are the keys, along with gaining the knowledge, when needed.

      Thanks for another great comment.

  7. There’s two main types of intelligence – intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence. What you need in marketing is high emotional intelligence. You need to be able to put yourself in the other persons shoes. To really understand their needs, wants or desires. Internet marketing also sometimes involves networking which of course requires emotional intelligence and social skills. I have tended to find that high IQ people tend to over-think things when it comes to internet marketing
