Discovery International School is a Reggio Emilia–influenced preschool and kindergarten where children’s ideas, interests, and play guide rich, multidisciplinary learning experiences. Our STEAM-focused projects naturally emerge from children’s curiosity, motivating them to explore, question, and create in a joyful, nurturing environment. We are a happy, safe space for healthy childhood development, where every child’s voice is heard and respected.
Certified as a child care center by the Japanese government, Discovery employs licensed, experienced teachers and maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio to ensure individualized attention and support. Our curriculum is informed by the US National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Japan’s National Curriculum Standards for Kindergartens, and inspired by Italy’s Reggio Emilia approach. We also incorporate Early Years Singapore Math and tailor literacy instruction to each child’s unique learning level.
Since 2010, we have proudly served students from over 25 countries in the eastern Nagoya area. Founded by an American national to support the international community, Discovery offers a warm, multicultural learning environment with daily indoor and outdoor play, seasonal celebrations, field trips three times a year, and extended childcare from 8:00–18:00 for families in need.
