DESIGN PHILOSOPHY:
Architecture and design shape more than just spaces—but how we live, work, and connect, defining how we function, feel, and evolve. For Anuj Kapoor, design isn’t about adhering to a signature style but about creating spaces that resonate with identity, ambition, and intent. His approach is deeply user-centric, ensuring that function, emotion, and purpose take precedence over mere aesthetics.
Bespoke design, to him, is a cross between a person and a space. Every design decision is rooted in program, logic and context, making his spaces not just visually compelling but also intelligent, intuitive, and deeply relevant.
His process begins with an intense focus on the smallest fundamental units of a space – questioning and refining them at a micro level to create a cohesive, impactful whole. By solving for the details first, his designs elevate function into a nuanced experience, shaped by intent.
For Anuj, architecture exists in constant dialogue with nature. Natural light, air, and climate aren’t external considerations but integral design elements that shape spatial experiences as much as the built form itself.
At the heart of his philosophy is a reverence for materials. His work honors the natural character of materials, revealing their beauty through thoughtful design and meticulous craftsmanship. He believes that mass production has stripped design of its uniqueness, diluting the individuality of spaces and making the built world increasingly monotonous. For him, bespoke design is not just a creative preference—it is the only way to create spaces that feel authentic and alive.
Innovation and craftsmanship go hand in hand in his practice. Through The Home of Logic, his in-house workshop, he fosters a culture of research and experimentation, exploring how the skill of a seasoned artisan and modern technologies can inform each other. This hands-on approach enables a level of precision and detailing that enriches the quality of every space he designs.
“To create something truly impactful and extraordinary, we must begin with the understanding that we know nothing,” says Anuj. “Only then can we start accumulating knowledge about what exists and what needs to exist. The gap between these two is where design happens.”
For him, design is a process of discovery—one of problem-solving, personalization, and impact through deep inquiry, knowledge, and intuition. It’s about creating meaningful, intelligent environments—ones that do not just serve a function but enhance the way people experience and interact with them.
