About Us – Borotech Glassware
Every glass we create carries within it the touch of human hands, the clarity of borosilicate glass, and the quiet pride of artisans who’ve spent years mastering their skill. We’re a small team based in Agra, India, bringing together traditional glassblowing craftsmanship with contemporary design – and we’re deeply committed to making products that feel good to hold, use, and gift.
Our journey began not with home décor or drinkware, but in an entirely different space – glass pipes. For over a decade, our parent company, Chakra Glassworks Pvt. Ltd., was known internationally for producing high-quality, hand-blown smoking pipes and accessories. These products helped us gain a reputation for precision work and strong craftsmanship in the world of functional glass. But somewhere along the way, a shift happened.
We realized we had something much more powerful in our hands: a network of skilled artisans, a deep understanding of glass as a material, and a passion for slow, meaningful creation. In early 2023, we decided to bring our craft home – literally – and focus on designing beautiful glassware that could be used and cherished in everyday life. That’s how Borotech was born.
The name “Borotech” is a blend of borosilicate (the type of glass we use) and technology, representing our commitment to both time-honored methods and modern functionality.
What We Do
We specialize in handmade drinkware crafted from borosilicate glass, which is known for being lightweight, durable, and resistant to heat and cold. Each piece is individually hand-blown by our team of artisans, ensuring that no two are ever exactly alike. Whether it’s a double-walled beer mug, a sleek whiskey tumbler, or a colorful espresso cup, our goal is always the same: to make glassware that feels special.
We now offer over 100 unique designs, with new creations launching every month. Our range includes:
Double-walled mugs and cups that keep your drinks hot or cold longer, while remaining cool to the touch.
Cocktail and whiskey glasses in creative silhouettes and subtle hues, designed to enhance the experience of drinking.
Minimalist highball and water glasses, perfect for everyday use but elegant enough for the dinner table.
Colored glassware sets in tones like amber, smoke, and light blue – soft, playful, and modern.
A growing number of limited-edition, custom pieces created in small batches or in collaboration with designers and cafés.
All our products are microwave-safe, dishwasher-safe, and 100% lead-free.
Why Borosilicate?
If you’ve ever picked up a regular glass cup and compared it to a Borotech one, you’ll immediately feel the difference. Borosilicate glass is stronger, clearer, and more resistant to sudden temperature changes than the standard soda-lime glass used in most mass-produced drinkware. It doesn’t cloud or degrade over time. It’s what’s used in lab equipment – and that same level of performance now finds its way into your kitchen and bar.
But what really makes our glassware different is that it’s not pressed in a mold or churned out on a conveyor belt. It’s shaped by hand, using a blowtorch, breath, and experience.
Who We Are
We’re a small but passionate team led by Ashish, our founder, who has spent the last 15 years immersed in the world of glass. From starting with a single workshop to now running a production space that supports over 100 local artisans and workers, Ashish’s journey is rooted in care – for the material, the people, and the products.
For him, and for us, Borotech is not just a brand. It’s a way to show that beautiful, handcrafted goods can come out of India, with integrity, quality, and originality.
We don’t outsource production. We don’t cut corners. And we don’t try to mimic trends. Instead, we focus on making things well, making things with heart, and making things that last.
How We Work
Every product at Borotech is made in-house, at our facility in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, which also serves as a training ground for new artisans. We follow ethical production practices, with fair wages, clean working conditions, and a collaborative workshop environment. Many of our team members come from families where glassblowing was once a dying trade. Today, through Borotech, they’re earning stable incomes and helping shape a new generation of modern glassmakers.
We’re proud to be a Made in India brand that ships worldwide. While our aesthetic is global – clean lines, minimal forms, thoughtful proportions – our roots are firmly local. You’ll often find subtle Indian influences in our work: the curves of a traditional kulhad in a coffee cup, or the texture of a clay diya echoed in a whiskey glass.
Looking Ahead
Borotech is still young, and we have big dreams. Over the next few years, we plan to:
Launch our flagship studio space in Agra, where visitors can see live glassblowing demos and shop our full range.
Collaborate with chefs, cafés, and interior designers to create bespoke drinkware for unique spaces.
Build a deeper connection between our customers and our process, through video content, stories, and behind-the-scenes access.
Expand our product range to include carafes, pitchers, glass straws, dessert bowls, and more.
Continue to keep things small-batch and handmade – because we truly believe in the value of slow production.
Why It Matters
In a world flooded with mass-produced goods, we believe there’s something powerful in choosing objects made with care. A Borotech glass isn’t just a vessel – it’s a reflection of time, skill, and the human touch. It’s something you’ll reach for every morning, share with guests, and maybe even pass down one day.
We’re here to bring beauty back to the everyday – one hand-blown glass at a time
